Support Us

There are myriad ways you can support us!
You don’t have to navigate this
journey alone
When someone you love becomes terminally ill, you are facing the unknown, but having the support of the charity means you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. It’s impossible to overstate the emotional support of the nurses; it’s meant so much to me to be able to talk to people who understand what you’re going through.”

Volunteer for Us

Our support and care is provided completely free of charge for patients and their families.

We are a small charity and rely entirely on the generosity of our wonderful local community to help us raise the more £1 Million we need each year so that together we can provide seamless, high-quality care for local people with a life-limiting illness. In short, donations, fundraising events and Legacies cover 100% of our running costs.

Your help is invaluable to us as everyone deserves to live the best quality life they can until the end of their lives and be in control of their choices at all times, surrounded by love and those they love.

It is only with your help that every patient with a life-limiting illness can receive our exceptional specialist palliative care.

Volunteering Opportunities

Wellbeing Volunteers: Our weekly Wellbeing Day is an informal social day for our patients. We need volunteers to make tea and coffee, chat with patients and help with activities.

Bereavement Volunteers: After training, our Bereavement Volunteers support the bereaved with one-one telephone and face to face support. You could also be involved with our Bereavement group support activities such as walks and teas.

Volunteer Drivers: Just the odd one off or regular drives, Volunteer Drivers transport our patients to appointments or to pick up much needed medications.

Companions, Sitters and Dementia Volunteers: Befrienders and sitters keep patients company for a cup or tea and a chat or maybe a game of cards! Often giving carers a much needed break knowing their loved ones are safe and not alone.

Information Hub Volunteers: Our busy Information Hub on Sidmouth High Street needs volunteers to greet people attending our drop-in sessions, offer information on local services or just to have a chat about what we do!

Fundraising/Event Volunteers: Our Fundraising and Event Volunteers work closely with our Marketing and Income Generation Manager to support us at events throughout the year. We need volunteers to attend events to raise awareness and funds for the charity, pick up collection tins and support our vital work through fundraising activities!

Alternatively…

Join our High Street Hero campaign and host a collecting box in your premises; all the loose change adds up! For example, one supporting organisation raised more than £900 for us recently, with customers of another company raising an average of £300 a year for us. You’ll also be raising awareness, which is equally important.

Want to raise your profile in a more public way?

Sponsor or support one of our annual fundraising events; our amazing fundraising team organises a number of fundraising events a year and are always looking for people to help organise, participate in, or sponsor them.
